Biography

Dr Nekma Meah is a Consultant Dermatologist and a fellowship trained alopecia specialist. She has a specialist interest in the management of alopecia and scalp disorders. She has undertaken an international fellowship in hair and scalp disorders under the mentorship of world-renowned hair expert – Professor Rodney Sinclair (Melbourne, Australia) and published extensively in this area, including The Alopecia Areata Consensus of Experts (ACE) study and A Global eDelphi Exercise to Identify Core Domains and Domain Items for the Development of a Global Registry of Alopecia Areata Disease Severity and Treatment Safety (GRASS) study. She runs the specialist hair clinic at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust and is currently the Honorary Secretary of the British Hair and Nail Society https://bhns.org.uk/.

She obtained her MBChB from the University of Manchester in 2007 and undertook her junior doctor training in the West Midlands before entering the specialist dermatology programme in Liverpool. She qualified as a Consultant Dermatologist in 2017.

She is Undergraduate Lead at St Helens and Knowsley NHS Trust and helped to establish the national annual British Hair & Nail SPR training day for dermatology registrars in the UK.
