Biography

Paul retired in October 2021 from full time NHS roles after a 40 plus year career, with 23 years as a Chief Executive in both commissioning and provider roles. He has led a wide range of NHS organisations, as well as being recognised both regionally and nationally for his work. This has included: perinatal services, critical care, renal and transplantation services, services for older people, and chairing a number of clinical networks and task groups to deliver improved services.

Paul was the CEO of 3 PCTs, a Mental Health Trust and a Community Services Trust in Gloucestershire. His last full time NHS role was as Chief Executive Officer of Birmingham and Solihull Clinical Commissioning Group where he was also system lead for the STP. The BSol CCG was created out of three predecessor organisations and at the time of its formation was the largest CCG in England.
