Rachel Wood qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2006 following her BSc (Hons) degree in Dietetics. She worked in adult dietetics for almost five years covering a variety of specialities in Rotherham Foundation Trust and then at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals specialising in critical care, bowel surgery and TPN.
She then took a change in direction and went into Paediatric Dietetics at Sheffield Children’s hospital, gaining a lot of different experience in a tertiary centre for paediatrics before focusing on allergy and gastroenterology. Following that Rachel gained a highly specialist role at Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital leading the allergy and gastroenterology service where she has worked for over five years. She is involved in developing the allergy service and pathways as part of the North West network and has been heavily involved in training and education of other health professionals on the management of milk allergy. Rachel is also setting up group allergy education sessions for parents and families. She finds the combination of allergy and gastroenterology complements each other extremely well.
