Tony has been a GP principal at the same practice in Nottingham since 1992 while also undertaking teaching and research at the University of Nottingham. He has particular interest in prescribing and patient safety and has led several projects which have documented the frequency, nature and causes of safety problems in general practice. He has also helped to improve patient safety through implementation of various initiatives, including the PINCER prescribing safety intervention. Since 2022 he has been National Clinical Director for Prescribing with responsibility for implementing the recommendations of the National Overprescribing Review. @tonyavery1
