Biography

Eleanor leads the diabetes in pregnancy service in Leeds and has been involved in shaping services nationally in diabetes in pregnancy care through roles that include: NHS England – developing & delivering the clinical pathways, procurement, training & governance required for rollout to all NHS Trusts of continuous glucose monitoring for women with diabetes in pregnancy as part of the NHS long term plan; Diabetes Technology Network-UK – the development & delivery of an educational toolkit to support healthcare professionals & patients across the UK to use continuous glucose monitoring effectively in pregnancy; National Pregnancy in Diabetes audit advisory group, National Diabetes Audit partnership board; RCP Joint Specialty Committee for Diabetes and Endocrinology. She integrates delivering clinical care with performing clinical research using new technologies to understand and improve 24 hour glucose control in women with diabetes in pregnancy. She has received the EASD DPSG Joseph Hoet Award for research excellence in the field of diabetes in pregnancy and her work on 24hour glucose control has featured on BBC TV ‘The Truth About Sleep’ and ‘Trust me I’m a Doctor’.
