| Biography |
Dr Rachamim is a community paediatrician with a particular interest in complex neurodisability. She is also the designated doctor for Barnet Community Child Deaths and joint lead for children and young people with Down Syndrome in the Borough.
The birth of Ella’s twin daughters led her to realise how hard it is when families cannot sleep. The impact is significant and often under-recognised. When a child does not sleep, it causes huge knock-on effects on siblings, parents, and carers, affecting their emotional, mental, and physical health. We now know how poor sleep has detrimental consequences on health.
As healthcare professionals we need to raise awareness, encourage training, and ask the right questions when listening to families. For any child it is their sleep that plays a vital role in their development, behaviour, learning, concentration, and health.
